Answer to the April Trivia Question
Gymnastics Trivia

Hudson, Ink Free Marketing Planner Calendar

Who is the youngest male gymnast Olympic Gold Medalist to date?

Rowland "Flip" Wolfe of the United States.  He was 17 years and 307 days old when he won the tumbling competition in 1932, which was the only time a tumbling competition was held at an Olympics.

Of course, your business doesn’t have to be a one-hit wonder. No matter how old, young, large, or small your company may be, it’s possible to get the gold every time. All it takes is attention to details:

  • Who is your intended target market? “Who” goes from cold prospects at the top of the funnel, to contacted leads, to inactive or old customers down to the active, spending customers.
  • What are you saying? This moves from a big-market, broad message to narrower “follow up” message, to “reactivation” message, to “retention, upsell” message (Newsletters, Maintenance Agreements) at the bottom of the funnel.
  • How do you send your message? Yellow Pages is the broadest market.  Newspaper is next, then radio and TV.  Direct mail is the narrowest since it can be very focused.
  • When do you run?  YP ads run year long. Newspaper may run 26 times a year. Radio is seasonal. Direct mail can be 4-8 times a year per promotion.
  • How much do you spend as a percentage of sales dollars. For an Aggressive marketer, that’s 8-10%, a Moderate 6-8% and a Conservative 3.5-5%. Divide the dollars according to your type.
